Driving Process Safety through Global Collaboration
PSIN was spearheaded by the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers (NSChE) and is fully registered as a non-profit organisation in Nigeria by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC). Its structure and mission align with the Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS), an organ of AIChE, within the framework of the subsisting cooperative MOU between NSChE and AIChE.
Industry Sensitization
In 2016, NSChE presented a landmark paper titled "Imperatives of Process Safety in Nigeria" at the DPR International HSE Conference, serving as the first major sensitization of the Oil & Gas sector.
National Conference 2017
NSChE hosted the first Process Safety National Conference in 2017, supported by DPR, with participation from CCPS (AIChE) and the Safety & Loss Prevention SIG of IChemE (UK).
Formalisation
Initiation of PSIN’s registration as a non-profit began soon after, culminating in its full recognition by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
Structures & Membership
NSChE set up the PSIN Committee to actively drive the initiative, while developing governance, administration, and membership frameworks for sustainability.
Future Directions
Strategies include adoption of Process Safety as a recurring NSChE Annual Conference theme, supported by CCPS and AIChE, ensuring continuous engagement with global stakeholders.
Strategic Partners of PSIN
Our collaborations with government institutions, international agencies, and training organizations strengthen PSIN’s mission to build a highly skilled and productive public service.
